In 2019 Drew decided to follow his dream of starting his own, Christian centered design company, while still working as a Senior PM in a prestigious architecture firm. Drew and Alyssa got married in 2020 and in 2021 Alyssa joined the team to help grow the business. When they decided to start a family, they wanted to run a successful design firm while also having the flexibility to be a part of their children’s everyday lives and put family first. In 2025, Drew officially went out on his own and left the previous architecture firm to build Design Lab 314 full time.

Drew has a well rounded approach to custom design. He has been in the construction and design industry for 31 years. He started out in construction in framing and then moved on as a roofing superintendent, designing and fabricating custom woodworking, building custom, multi-million dollar timber frame cabins and being the top foreman of a boutique landscape design and installation company. While working in landscape construction he had the opportunity to hand-draft custom homes which ignited his passion for design.

In 2001 Drew started designing and modeling custom luxury homes and worked for several prominent architecture firms in western North Carolina. In 2004 Drew moved to Michigan to go to Andrews University to study Architecture and in 2018 he completed his AXP hours through NCARB and became eligible to sit for the ARE exams. Drew has worked as senior project manager for 11 years for Dale Gardon Design, one of Arizona’s top end architecture firms. While at DGD, he was project manager of the top three highest selling estates in Arizona, including the house that took the top record, selling at a whopping $29.5 Million in 2022.

Alyssa has a background in landscape construction and design. Out of high school, she worked for her dad’s landscape company as a way to make money while going to college. As she got her hands dirty, she realized that she had a knack for design and a passion for making people’s design dreams come to life. When she met Drew they connected instantly over their shared passion for design. She also brings to the company her two-year degree in architectural drafting as well as multiple years of  business and leadership coaching.

Theodore (Theo) is a bubbly boy! He lends laughs and fun to his mom and dad on a daily basis and goes on a site visit every now and then. The twin girls, Eliana (Elie) & Olivia (Livy) will be celebrating their first birthday this summer (2026) and have been adorable and entertaining additions to the family.
